Who I Am
Hello! I'm Raffy Banks.
TacticPath is where I share everything I've learned over the last 15+ years developing and scaling a wide variety of tech products and services — from Enterprise SaaS to e-commerce to productized IT services to consulting.
I'm currently a Product Manager at Ocean Technologies Group where I launched and am growing MTS On Demand and SeaDrive, a Learning Management System (LMS) for the maritime-industry installed on more than 1,000 ships around the world and used by 100K+ seafarers.
Previously, I co-founded Threadhop.com, a web-app and e-commerce business that helped anyone sell their high-end fashion apparel and accessories in just a few clicks. We grew the business to 10,000+ SKUs and well into the six figures.
Before that, I founded RJB Consulting, a software development and IT management company, which I grew to hundreds of mid-sized clients in the Chicagoland area.
Our Principles
Customer Driven - Over promise and over deliver. Making things people want is not enough. You need to make things that they want, need, and improve their lives.
Return More Value - You will only earn a portion of the value you are able to provide to others.Increase the value you provide (more of, a greater percentage, or reduction of downside) and your compensation will increase.
Product-led Growth - The product is what delivers value. Get it to 80% and launch. Then make it better and better over time as your customers mature. It's your greatest means for growth.
Build Systems - Systems are what ensure your goals will be met. They keep everyone on the same page.They can be changed and updated. Limit the number of systems you run but systematize everything.
Embrace the Work - Everything takes time. It's tempting to bale on something if you don't see immediate results. Resist this urge. Focus on the long-term.
Develop a Strong Mind & Body - Your health matters. Focus, clarity, and energy are required for building a successful business.If you can't work for long stretches of deep work you will struggle.
Doing > Learning - Learn by doing. Then use educational resources to fill in the gaps. Do the work first. List a little bit thendo some more. This is the fastest way to learn.
